美國2016年總統熱門人選、前國務卿希拉蕊(Hillary Rodham Clinton)4日表示，她仍然對美國和伊朗在下個星期最後期限前達成核子協議，具有信心。
希拉蕊是在新罕布夏的一場慶祝美國國慶的活動中，做了這項表示。
希拉蕊說：「我希望它是個強力、可檢驗的協議，能夠遏制伊朗的核子野心。」但希拉蕊也指出：「即使我們成功了，伊朗的侵略性仍將不會結束。」
在擔任國務卿任內，希拉蕊協助推動伊朗核子談判，而這項正在日內瓦進行的談判，已經接近完成。不過共和黨總統參選人抨擊這項協議，認為不足以阻止伊朗取得核子武器。伊朗核問題也成為美國總統大選選戰中，兩黨外交政策的攻防焦點之一。
伊朗和聯合國五常加一集團(P5+1)的會談期限已展延到本月7日，內容較著重於伊朗未來的核子計畫研發能力，不過也各國不排除要求伊朗讓原能總署參觀軍方的核子設施。
